Building External Timber French Doors with Wilkins Windows
Wilkins Windows offers a comprehensive selection of windows and doors for all kinds of applications, whether for indoor or outdoor use. The production team can manufacture units from premium uPVC (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride) or timber, namely cedar or merbau. Wilkins Windows specifically uses western red cedar, an industry standard building material for its high structural strength and resilience, as well as its visual appeal and fragrance. Alternatively, merbau is widely used for its dimensional stability and resistance to termites. Usually used for flooring applications, merbau has grown in popularity for the manufacture of windows and doors.
For timber doors, Wilkins Windows provides standard entry doors, double sliders, sliding stacker doors, bi-fold doors, and French doors. The latter is a popular choice for various building styles, including contemporary, Federation and Art Deco which originated in Old World France.
The French door style is achieved by transparent or translucent glass panels that extend for most of the length of a timber frame. Clients can choose from a wide range of glass, including tinted glass and obscure glass. For the former, the following glass options are available: Diamond Flower Zinclight; Diamond Jewel Zinclight; Clear Bevelled Zinclight; Deco Zinclight; Tuscan Jewel Zinclight; Waratah Leadlight; Blue Wren Ceramica; Rose Jewel Ceramica; Antique Frosted Ceramica; Kookaburra Jewel Ceramica; Slumped Waterfall; Grey Slumped Waterfall; Desert Sand; and Crystal Lead. Meanwhile, obscure glass can be produced using tinted, lead lite, low-E (low emissivity), double glazed, or insulation glass with the following optional glass decorating: Blue, Flemish, Obscure, Glue Chip, and white translucent.
With close attention to detail, Wilkins Windows can manufacture units specified to any size, shape or style, equipped with mortise and tenon joints. Upon application, external timber French doors seamlessly blend both old and new joinery for a classic, high-quality finish.
Timber French doors, especially double glazed units, provide exceptional acoustic performance. The laminated glass reliably reduces harsh outdoor noise. For improved noise cancellation, Wilkins Windows can provide cutting-edge acoustic panels and acoustic seals upon special request.
